There will be a myriad of discussion in the coming days with enough detail and opinion to float a battleship. There will be enough perspective to go around to please everyone. So allow me to get mine in while I can.
Envy and class warfare works. In spite of the unpopularity of bailouts, crony capitalism, and healthcare, a small majority, but enough to decide it for the rest of us, likes government support. A country extremely proud of its tradition of success and sky-high opportunity, no longer fully believe that. Apparently you can be too rich and too successful and that is now a bad thing, no longer something to strive for but rather to envy and scorn. This small majority finds mediocrity less burdensome, safer. In the absence of not doing anything, save opportunity and freedom of choice, Americans have chose to side with guarantees from the government. Most like it and it makes them happy.
Issues aren’t that important after all. When it comes down to self-interests, responsible decisions lose out to the average voter. They were given a bona fide choice this election. One candidate ran on every issue the majority of Americans have been voicing opposition to the past year. The other candidate promised more of the same. Given an opportunity between the two, most choked when it came time to vote. The alternative didn’t quite do enough to replace government security and dependency. Debt and deficits and fiscal cliffs aren’t personal issues they told themselves.
We are a country of makers and takers. Tax cuts don’t have the same ring as benefits and tax transfers. The possibility for upward mobility isn’t as enduring to the mind as immediate payments, exemptions, and free stuff. This is a culmination of a few well-meaning politicians trying to some good and very bad politicians buying power from the treasury. As a result, just twenty years ago only 25 percent didn’t pay income taxes. Now that number is roughly half. Consequently, there is now a solid majority of takers. It’s becoming acceptable and morally defensible. Confiscate from those who have too much and redistribute it to the rest. It sounds legitimate when half the country is doing it.
It’s whitey against the rest. Don’t recoil after reading that. Follow along with me. There is no recourse in attacking and slandering white people because white people represent power, greed, wealth, CEOs, oil spills, Wall Street, climate change, private jets, privilege, tradition and conservatism. Thusly, a president can turn into a trash talking thug with no recourse. He can use words and phrases like revenge, enemies, chains, slavery, war on women, obstructive or establishment forces. This garbage resonates, too. The president received overwhelming support among Latinos and black voters. Romney barely registered in those demographics. Throw in enough support from white liberals who believe this crap and you got yourself a nice coalition for a new majority replacing the old one. Diabolical doesn’t quite cover it.
And yet, politics is still local. Do me a favor. Find an electoral map with the state boundaries removed and look at the counties (and parishes) across the land. It’s ruby red north to south, east to west. The pockets of blue are from the result of gerrymandered, minority-majority districts, liberal bastions, and urban centers festering in victimhood. As a result, the Republicans actually added to their majority in the House. Outside of these districts, they were toothless in state-wide elections as evident from the Senate catastrophe. All from a result of everything spelled out above.

Your grouping is exactly on the money, as is your assessment, however, all those folks add up to a small minority of the total voting block for Obama type government. The vast majority of Obama supporters/voters are simply uninformed as to what is happening around them. I know many people who are hard working, decent Americans, yet when asked basic questions about general topics such as taxes, price increases of food and clothing, and other everyday subjects, they have nothing to say other than bitch about everything going up- they simply don`t know why they`re mad.
Ask about the auto/bank bailouts, keystone, coal plants closing, 100 fewer oil refineries operating, BENGHAZI, or a myriad of other general knowledge issues that directly effect their lives and you get a blank stare.
Our biggest threat is not Barack Obama and his crew, they are the puppy that craps on the carpet, they are doing what comes naturally – our enemy is the media, they are the puppies owner that cleans up the mess, gives the pup a treat and tells the other folks in the house that it was the last owners dog that crapped on the floor.
Media is the reason we got Obama in 08, they are the reason we have him now.
An informed citizen is the media and Obama`s worst nightmare.
a willfully biased mainstream media must be dealt with in a fashion equal to the damage they cause.
