Newt Gingrich had a “Newt moment” but this time it was dead on. On Afghanistan he suggested that we leave immediately and let them ‘Figure Out How to Live Your Own Miserable Life.’ That’s about it ladies and gentlemen. Summed up in one small, passing sentence.
Speaking at a Republican luncheon here on Monday, Mr. Gingrich amped up his criticism of U.S. involvement in Afghanistan after a string of attacks by Afghan soldiers on American troops. ”We’re not going to fix Afghanistan,” the former House speaker said. “It’s not possible.”
His prescription:”What you have to do is say, ‘You know, you’re going to have to figure out how to live your own miserable life… Because you clearly don’t want to learn from me how to be unmiserable.’”
Staying and even trying to deal with them is next to madness. The place is an insane asylum without the straight jackets and medication.
Before I was against the war, I was for it. I’m not a pacifists or some principled objector. I like American power and Afghanistan was the right target after 9/11. What we are doing now has nothing to do with 9/11 or conducting a proper war for that matter.
So by me advocating to leave has nothing to do with the war itself, oddly enough. It has to do with the people that are there. The ones who supposedly and desperately need our help and want our assistance. I really don’t care anymore what their problems are. The whole lot of them are not worth one American in my view.
Let’s let the half-barbarians have their country back. Heck, let’s even send a C-130 loaded down with Korans. Just so long as we leave that God forsaken place.

I agree Jason, however, Gingrich could not say publicly the last portion of that statement, ” because you clearly don`t want to learn from me how to be unmiserable, we are out of here and if one, just one attack on American interests or an American is killed as a result of who you let run this Country, we will simply use a strategy of bombs on the ground instead of boots, no warning, no mercy – you will cease to exist as a Country.”
I couldn’t agree more, Jason. Yes, we had every right to attack Afghanistan, but this has gone on long enough. The people who live in that country clearly have no desire to change how they act. We need to leave and warn them of what will happen, should they choose. to take their violence out of their borders.
Gentlemen,
I think this is the sentiment of most. As I said, it’s not the war. It’s not different version of cut and run. It’s more or less, why bother?
What’s that old folksy saying, “don’t bother to teach pigs to dance. You’ll get dirty and the pig will enjoy it.”
Or some variation of that.
The problem is, January is a long way off. The admin. has no problem with a policy of appeasement while the body count goes up….. I believe the CIC views the current situation as an asset to his ideology and re-election. It`s disgusting.
I’m a former combat Us Marine with three tours of duty in Vietnam under my belt. Both Iraq and Afghanistan bring back sad memories of an American futile attempt to stop communism in Southeast Asia and “Americanize” the region. It didn’t happen and it won’t happen in Iraq or Afghanistan.
We would be wise to eradicate the communism that has embedded itself in America and especially in the current administration. Let Iraq and Afghanistan solve their own problems, themselves, and without ANY American aid.
Thanks Lanny. You are exactly right.
Appreciate the thoughts and, especially, your service, Mr. Wood.
