The American soldiers were reportedly sitting at their desks when an unidentified gunman killed them. It appears Afghan security and NATO’s ISAF are having trouble finding a motive or discovering who actually shot the two officers. Since, you know, American and Afghan forces were both present at the time of the shooting. We wouldn’t want to jump to any conclusions to quickly.
This is yet another pathetic response from our gutless bureaucrats in the face of something so serious and tragic.
The Americans, who were U.S. Army officers, were sitting at their desks inside the ministry building where they served as advisers to the Afghan security forces when they were shot, NBC reported.
“American and Afghan troops were present at the time of the shootout, but we are unsure who killed them,” a senior Afghan security source told Reuters on condition of anonymity.
A spokesman for NATO’s International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said they were aware of “an accident” in central Kabul, but declined to give more details.
The shootings took place as fury over the burning of copies of the Quran, the Muslim holy book, at a NATO base continued to grip the country.
